Marvel Snap is flashy and fast-paced, with fresh and engaging cards and mechanics to keep players hooked to the game. Since the game has been launched, it has been recognized as the Best Mobile Game of 2022 by The Game Awards, D.I.C.E., and Destructoid. It is also categorized as one of the best games of 2022 overall by Polygon, Digital Trends, and GameSpot.
There are over a thousand different variations of cards and locations that make each game of Marvel Snap unique and fun. The energy curves and location mechanics might sound a bit difficult, but once you understand how they work, nobody can stop you from becoming a pro player!
The Energy Curves
In Marvel Snap, energy is what helps you move forward. The energy cards allow you to start the game. Now, there is a deck of 12 cards, and the energy ranges from 1 to 6. Starting from one, the player has one energy, and it goes till 6, on their sixth turn. That means by the final turn, you’ll have 6 energy to spend and basically line up your cards.
Now, there are only six turns in a game, so using your energy wisely is crucial. The objective is to dominate two out of three Locations. Smart players know when and how to play their cards. With a good energy curve, it becomes easier for players to respond to Locations as they keep appearing. Just make sure to use your high-cost and mid-cost cards efficiently to dominate the field.
The Location Mechanics
With each battle comes three locations that have their own properties and can totally flip the rules of the game. Now, if you have learnt how these locations work and are working to adapt quickly, you’ll be at an advantage. Additionally, it is important to get to know about the different Location cards prior to diving in. This helps you prepare in advance, as many locations forbid you to use certain cards, or there is a limit to how many cards you can use in that particular place.
These locations are revealed one after another, and they can boost the power and help you move the cards around. So, it is highly important to create a strategy for each of the locations as per their properties. For instance, in the Valley of the Hand, destroyed cards are revived after Turn 5, and players can not retreat after Turn 5 in Mount Vesuvius.
People may see Marvel Snap as a fast and simple game, but the way players manage their energy and cards is what makes the game truly fun. It is really important to remember that every game brings a different story to life. Now, when you stay flexible in the Locations and move the cards sensibly, it helps you climb up the ladder smoothly. So, build your decks, make a strategy, and snap when you find the perfect moment in Marvel Snap!
