With the Pulsing Aura Set being the most recent card set at time of writing, we’ve had some time to play around and experiment with the new cards and Pokémon that feature in this deck. Some Pokémon haven’t been seen in previous sets before while other Pokémon have unique abilities that can change the way you play some of your decks. Here are some fun cards that we’ve seen that you can also play around with from Pulsing Aura!
Emboar:

Emboar is a Stage 2 Evolution Pokémon of Tepig and Pignite and has a move that operates in a similar way to how Celebi EX works. Emboar’s attack does 70 damage for 3 Energy but this has an extra twist; you flip coins for however many Fire Energies are attached to Emboar (so 3 Energy equals 3 coin flips), and for every heads you deal 30 extra damage. This can add plenty of damage to your total output and can combo with a lot of different cards. A couple of examples are using Tepig’s move (where you flip a coin and if it’s heads you add 2 Fire Energy to Tepig), use a Rare Candy to evolve it straight to Emboar and immediately attack. Or you can use the Will Supporter card to guarantee that your next coin flip will be heads, and you can use Flame Patch Item cards to take discarded Fire Energy and attach them to Emboar. The more Fire Energies you can attach to Emboar the better. Plus this isn’t even an EX Pokémon, meaning that opponent’s only get 1 point if it gets defeated!
Magnezone EX:

We’re looking at another Stage 2 Evolution, this time it’s an evolution of Magnemite and Magneton. This card is very powerful on its own; for 3 Electric Energy you can do a staggering 130 damage! The only downside of this move is that you need to discard an Electric Energy from Magnezone EX after this attack is used but there are ways to get around this. One way is using Electric Generator cards where you flip a coin and if it’s heads you attach an Electric Energy from the Energy Zone to a Benched Pokémon although this method isn’t always guaranteed to give you Energy. A more reliable method is using Magneton (Genetic Apex) to evolve your Magnemite, as its ability allows you to take an Electric Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to your Magneton. Our advice would be to try and find way to attach more than 3 Energy to your Magnezone EX so you don’t have to worry about constantly replenishing it’s Energy.
Mega Lucario EX:

Another Evolution Pokémon, this Pokémon is a Stage 1 Evolution that evolves from Riolu. This is the first Mega EX for Lucario and it’s arguably the most powerful variant! This Pokémon can attack for 2 Energy dealing 90 damage but if it has an extra Fighting Energy attached to it, it can deal 50 extra damage! Pulsing Aura really gives Fighting Type Pokémon more damage output, especially if you can combo certain cards properly. Other Lucario cards can give your Fighting Type Pokémon 20 extra damage, the new Arena of Antiquity Stadium card gives both players’ Fighting Type Pokémon 20 more damage, and even the new Korrina Supporter card lets you do 30 extra damage by Fighting Type Pokémon to an EX Pokémon. We don’t think we need to tell you that pairing these up with Mega Lucario EX can be a huge bonus and potentially can end your games extremely quickly!
Field Blower:

The final card we’re focusing on isn’t a Pokémon but an Item Card. This seems very simple and not super special at first; it lets you discard a Pokémon Tool from either yourself or your opponent, or you can discard a Stadium card in play. This last point is important since this is the first proper counter to a Stadium card since they were first introduced. You’ll need to play these cards carefully since getting rid of a Stadium’s bonus will also remove those same bonuses for you (especially if it gives you a little more HP or damage) but if you think the risk is worth it or the bonuses don’t apply to your Pokémon anymore then this can be a great card to play!
