How to Dodge Attacks in Brawl Stars?

Figuring out how to dodge attacks in Brawl Stars is one of the most essential skills you can master in the game. The good news, though, is that you don’t need to have ninja reflexes to do. All you need is better movement, some decent game sense and a bit of practice down the line.

Know Your Brawler’s Speed

Not all Brawlers move at the same speed.

  • Slow Brawlers like 8-Bit are easier targets.
  • Medium-speed Brawlers like Nita have decent mobility.
  • Fast Brawlers and tanks can dodge much more easily.
  • Very fast Brawlers like Max can make enemy shots look silly.

The faster your Brawler is moving, the harder it is for those opponents to auto-aim successfully. Get to know your movement speed. That’s the first step to learning how to dodge attacks in Brawl Stars.

Don’t Walk Straight

One of the biggest beginner mistakes is running directly toward or away from enemies. If you move in a perfectly straight line, skilled players can easily predict your path. Instead, mix things up:

  • Move left, then right.
  • Take sudden turns.
  • Change direction unexpectedly.
  • Pause briefly before moving again.

Random movement makes your opponents miss more shots.

Don’t Zigzag Too Much

Wait, didn’t we just say to move side to side? Yes, but there is a catch. Many players constantly wiggle left and right in the same pattern. After a few seconds, opponents can predict this movement and simply auto-aim.

Good dodging means being unpredictable. Sometimes move straight, sometimes zigzag, and sometimes take a sharp turn. The secret to dodging attacks in Brawl Stars is randomness.

Learn Specific Attack Patterns

Some attacks follow predictable patterns.

Spike’s Curveball: Spike’s Curveball Star Power can feel impossible to avoid at first. But once you learn how the spikes spread, it becomes much easier.

Practice moving slightly away from the curved projectiles rather than panicking and running everywhere. After enough games, you will start dodging Curveball shots naturally.

Shelly’s Clay Pigeons Gadget: When Shelly activates her gadget, many players panic. A funny trick is to keep moving in a straight line simply. Many Shelly players expect zigzags and end up missing completely. If the Shelly starts predicting your movement, then mix in a quick sidestep.

How to Dodge Brock and Colt

Against Brock: Many players think staying far away is safest. Actually, Brock often has an easier time landing shots at maximum range because he has more room to predict your movement. Try fighting at medium range when possible and keep changing directions.

Against Colt: Colt fires a stream of bullets rather than a single shot. The best strategy is to zigzag while reacting to where the bullets are going. If you notice the stream following you, quickly change direction. Good Colt players will try to predict your reaction, so keep mixing things up.

Dodging in Showdown

Showdown is where movement skills truly shine. Sometimes you’re not dodging one player. You’re dodging three, four, or even more enemies at once. The key is prioritisation:

  • Watch who is about to shoot.
  • Use walls for protection.
  • Avoid standing in open areas.
  • Move between cover whenever possible.

Experienced players don’t dodge every shot perfectly. They simply make themselves difficult targets.

Master these movement tricks, stay unpredictable, and you’ll soon be the player everyone complains about because you just won’t get hit. That’s when you know you’ve truly learned how to dodge attacks in Brawl Stars.
