Paradox Drive: Future Cards We Like

As explained in out previous article, Paradox Drive, the newest Pokémon TCG Pocket card set added to the game, has 2 different types of cards; Ancient and Future cards, each with their own respective features, bonuses and combo potential. In our last article we talked about Ancient cards we liked, and in this article we’ll discuss Future cards that we think are the most interesting!

Miraidon EX:

Last article we talked about Koraidon EX and now we’re going to discuss its Future counterpart, Miraidon EX! This is an Electric Type Pokémon that made its video game debut in Pokémon Violet, and its attack fits its legendary status. It deals 20+ damage for 3 Energy but it does 20 extra damage for each Electric Energy attached to it. However, its ability is where it could potentially deal the most damage. When you place this Pokémon onto your Bench you have the option to swap it with your current Active Pokémon. If you do, you transfer all your Energy onto Miraidon EX, potentially granting it a huge power boost! It’s a big risk to take if you have other Pokémon that need energy to attack but if you can attach multiple  Electric Energy onto Miraidon EX this can be a huge game changer!

Iron Jugulis:

This is a Dark Type Pokémon and the first of 2 Pokémon with Iron in its name, a common theme with Future Pokémon in this set. While this Pokémon doesn’t have that much health it has a decent amount of attack damage and a good ability. It does 70 damage for 3 Energy but if Iron Jugulis gets attacked by your opponent’s Active Pokémon it does 20 recoil damage to that Pokémon. Its effect is similar to Druddigon (Mythical Island) meaning you can combo it with Tools like Rocky Helmet to make attacking it riskier. If you can find a way to get this Pokémon’s health to go up this can be a very good defensive option for you if your other Pokémon are in trouble!

Iron Treads:

This is a Metal Type Pokémon and the other Pokémon with Iron in its name, the only difference being that having Iron in its name makes sense! But jokes aside, this Pokémon doesn’t have an ability like its Iron counterpart in this list, but it has a very strong attack instead! It does 50+ damage for 3 Energy and the way it does damage is similar to Celebi EX (Mythical Island) and Gholdengo (Shining Revelry). When you attack you flip coins until you get a Tails, and for every Heads you get the attack does 30 more damage. This is also another Pokémon that doesn’t have as much health for a Pokémon with 3 Energy to attack, but it has high combo potential! For example you can use the Future Booster Energy Capsule listed below to increase its attack damage to deal a potentially lethal blow!

Future Booster Energy Capsule:

The final thing we’ll talk about for Future-related Pokémon isn’t a Pokémon at all! Instead we’ll talk about a Pokémon Tool that can only be attached to Future Pokémon; the Future Booster Energy Capsule. This Tool gives any Future Pokémon that it is attached to 20 extra damage. This can be highly useful for multiple Pokémon not only featured in this list but to others in this set as well! For example, let’s talk about a Pokémon that we discussed in a previous article, Iron Moth. This Pokémon deals a set amounts of damage (10, 50, 120) depending on how many Heads you flip. If this item is attached the damage goes up to 30, 70 and 140 damage, making this Pokémon even more dangerous! This Tool is a must-have for your deck if you want to make your Future Pokémon even more powerful!

There are plenty of Ancient and Future Pokémon listed that we didn’t talk about in these articles, so we always encourage you to experiment with these Pokémon. See which ones are right for you and play offline games before braving the online realm with your new powerful decks!
