Clash Royale Clan War Decks: How to Build Four Strong Decks

Published on

in

Building Clash Royale Clan War Decks is different from making four random good decks. The same card cannot be used twice, so you need to plan all four decks together. Use cards you have at high levels and give each deck a clear role.

What Are the Rules for Clash Royale Clan War Decks?

  • You need 4 War Decks.
  • Each deck has 8 main cards.
  • All 4 decks must use 32 different main cards.
  • A card cannot appear in more than one deck.
  • Your Card Collection levels apply.
  • Build each deck separately around a clear win condition or role.

Can I use the same card in two War Decks? No. Once a card is used in one War Deck, you must choose another card for the others.

Plan All Four Decks Before Filling the Slots

Plan all four War Decks together before choosing every card. Start with your Card Collection and list your usable win conditions, spells, and defenders. Then reserve a working core for each deck.

For example, if Deck 1 uses Fireball and The Log, mark both as unavailable. The other three decks must use different spells. Make sure the fourth deck still has:

  • A clear damage plan
  • Reliable defense
  • Useful spells or support

Do not build one deck around all your best cards and leave weak options for the last deck. This is a planning method, not a rule.

Give Each War Deck a Clear Role

Hog Cycle
Out-cycle opponent defences with fast pushes centred on Hog Rider. The Log, Fireball, Musketeer, Ice SpiritHog Rider, Cannon, Ice Spirit, Skeletons, Musketeer, Fireball, The Log, Ice GolemUnder-levelled Hog Rider fails to connect, and low-level Fireball leaves core defensive troops alive.

Golem Beatdown
Build massive pushes from the back with Golem and stacking heavy hitters.Lightning, Tornado, Baby Dragon, LumberjackGolem, Lumberjack, Baby Dragon, Mega Minion, Lightning, Tornado, Barbarian Barrel, Night WitchA single defensive misplay or under-levelled support troop results in an immediate three-crown counter-push.

Log Bait
Exhaust opponent small spells using Goblin Barrel, Princess, and Goblin Gang.Rocket, Inferno Tower, The Log, Ice SpiritGoblin Barrel, Princess, Goblin Gang, Knight, Inferno Tower, Rocket, The Log, Ice SpiritPrincess and Goblin Barrel depend on exact level parity; an over-levelled spell neutralises the win condition.

Royal Giant
Control the bridge by dropping Royal Giant at the river to lock onto towers.Earthquake, Giant Snowball, Fisherman, HunterRoyal Giant, Fisherman, Hunter, Mother Witch, Heal Spirit, Earthquake, Giant Snowball, Royal GhostRoyal Giant must absorb heavy hits; under-levelled health pools cause the card to disintegrate early.

Hog Cycle as the Fast Rotation Deck

  • Attack: Use Hog Rider and cycle cheap cards to attack quickly.
  • Support: The Log, Musketeer, and cheap defence.
  • Trade-off: Uses cards other decks may also need.

See our 2.6 Hog Cycle guide for the Hog Cycle example.

Golem Beatdown as the Heavy Push Deck

  • Attack: Build a push behind Golem.
  • Support: Lightning, Baby Dragon, or Lumberjack.
  • Trade-off: High Elixir cost makes mistakes expensive.

Log Bait as the Spell-Pressure Deck

  • Attack: Use Goblin Barrel to force out small spells.
  • Support: Princess, Goblin Gang, Rocket, and Inferno Tower.
  • Trade-off: Removing key bait cards weakens the deck.

Royal Giant as the Fourth Coherent Core

  • Attack: Pressure towers with Royal Giant at the bridge.
  • Support: Fisherman and Hunter.
  • Trade-off: Use it only if you have the core cards at good levels.

How Do You Replace Cards Without Breaking the Set?

Replace a card with one that fills the same role. Check its Elixir cost, level, and whether it is already used in another War Deck. Fireball, Poison, and Lightning are not automatic replacements.

Which War Cards Should You Upgrade First?

Upgrade the card that limits your weakest War Deck. Prioritise its main win condition or key defensive card instead of adding levels to an already strong deck.

Set Up the Decks and Verify Them Before Battle

Check all four War Decks in the Clan Wars editor. Each needs 8 unique main cards, a clear win condition, and usable levels. Test new builds first, then check the displayed cooldown if a used deck is unavailable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Same Tower Troop Be Used Across Duel Decks?

Yes. The same Tower Troop can be used in multiple Duel Decks.

Are War Decks the Same as Friendly Duel Decks?

No. War Decks are used in Clan Wars. Friendly Duels use separate Duel Decks set up through your Collection.

Check all four War Decks before spending more upgrades. Fix the weakest deck first, make sure your Card Collection supports each core, and test the set through play instead of forcing four unrelated deck builds. For more deck ideas and tips, explore our Clash Royale strategy guides.
