In our last article, we discussed the 5th Pokémon TCG Pocket card set; Shining Revelry. We also talked about some Pokémon cards that we think are still useful in modern decks. But there are plenty of other cards in this set that you can use! So in this article, we’ll talk about more cards that we think are useful and how you can use them!
Beedrill EX:

This is a Grass Type Pokémon and the first of 2 Stage 2 Pokémon featured in this article. This is a Pokémon that you don’t see that often online anymore and we can’t work out why! For starters, it has a good amount of health at 170 HP so you’ll be safe from most attacks. Secondly its retreat cost is only 1 Energy which is good for retreating if you’re in danger. And finally its attack power and what the attack does is great! It deals 80 damage for 2 Energy which can be great for whittling your opponent down! The only downside is that when used you must discard a random Energy from this Pokémon. However, there are ways around this! If you have Leafeon EX in your deck you can attach Energy to Beedrill EX on the Bench! As long as you have enough Energy Generation, you don’t have to worry about losing Energy!
Wugtrio EX:

This is a Water Type Pokémon and the second EX Pokémon we’re discussing in this article. It’s also an attack that doesn’t directly target a single Pokémon. Rather, it randomly chooses from your opponent’s Field and attacks their Pokémon 3 times! To go slightly further, it deals 50 damage 3 times for 3 Energy which is pretty good for an EX Pokémon. There are a couple of uses for Pokémon like this. For starters, if your opponent’s Field is full you can deal lots of damage before they can set anything up. And if your opponent has only 1 Pokémon on the Field, all 3 choices will target that Pokémon for 150 damage! Finally, since Wugtrio EX is a Water Type, you can generate Energy very easily! You can use Baxcalibur and Misty to generate Energy quickly so you shouldn’t have to worry about setup!
Gholdengo:

This is a Metal Type Pokémon and the only Stage 1 Pokémon in this article. It also has a unique evolution cycle since its previous evolution is Psychic Type! This Pokémon is also very similar to a Pokémon we’ve mentioned before; Celebi EX. Like Celebi EX, you flip a coin for each Energy attached to it and for each heads you do 50 damage. The main difference is that Gholdengo requires 3 Energy to attack and it has a higher retreat cost. However, you can still setup this Pokémon like Celebi EX. For starters, you can use Dialga EX to grant Gholdengo 2 Energy at a time to boost its attack. If you’re worried about its health you can use an Elegant Cape to up its HP by 30. And you can also use Will to guarantee the first coin flip to be heads!
Red:

Our final card isn’t a Pokémon at all. Rather, it’s a card of the original Pokémon video game protagonist; Red. When using this card, your next attack deals an extra 20 damage to your opponent’s EX Pokémon. This card may only type a single type of Pokémon but it can be very useful in modern games. Most decks will use some kind of EX Pokémon due to their high attack power, abilities and high health. So a little extra damage to whittle them down is never a bad thing. However, you can use this to combo with certain Type decks. For example, using this card in a Fighting deck can boost your attack even more! It can also be useful for finishing off opponents as a surprise extra attack boost! Your opponent might not know that Red is in your deck so you can use it to end the game!
Shining Revelry is a card set that has plenty of fun cards within it. You don’t have to look very hard to find useful cards so multiple decks. So much so that we’ve decided to write another article about more cards in this set! But for now, experiment with these cards and see if you can fit them into your current decks!
