Clash Royale Card Mastery Guide: Tasks, Rewards & Progress

Clash Royale Card Mastery tracks progress for individual cards through battle objectives and Mastery Badges. The 2026 rework also makes completed Mastery tasks a source of Gold.

What Is Clash Royale Card Mastery?

Clash Royale card mastery is a progression system for individual cards. Each card has its own Mastery Tasks, grouped into Task Sets. Completing these tasks increases that card’s Mastery and unlocks rewards.

Is Card Mastery the same as Card Level? No. Card Level shows how much you have upgraded a card. Card Mastery tracks the objectives you have completed while using it.

How Do You Unlock Card Mastery and Find Your Tasks?

Card Mastery unlocks at Arena 4. To find your tasks:

  1. Open Collection.
  2. Select a card.
  3. Tap Info.
  4. Tap Card Mastery.
  5. Check the available tasks and their progress.

The first Mastery task requires 3 wins with that card. Later Task Sets unlock as you progress and upgrade the card.

How Do You Track Mastery Progress?

Open the card’s Card Mastery screen and select a task. The game shows the exact requirement and progress counter. Focus only on the action listed in that task. Objectives can include:

  • Wins
  • Damage dealt
  • Card-specific actions

Current supported modes include Trophy Road, Ranked, Clan Wars, Events, Challenges, and Classic Challenges. Can a task require something other than winning? Yes. Later tasks can track damage or specific actions, so always check the selected task before playing.

What Rewards Does Card Mastery Give Now?

Clash Royale revamped its reward system, shifting payouts away from card rarity and extra items to standardise flat Gold values per task. Gems and wild cards have been moved out of masteries into the new Collection Level tracker.

Mastery Badges remain separate visual trophies earned by completing tasks, acting as cosmetic upgrades for your profile rather than currency.

Task setGold per taskTasks in the setTotal if that set is available and completed
Set 14,000312,000
Set 26,000318,000
Set 315,000345,000

Note: Totals are calculated from Supercell’s per-task Gold values x 3 tasks per set. Not every card has all three sets, and unlocking the initial badge task gives no extra Gold.

A Hog Rider Example: Read the Objective Before You Play

Task setStage 1 targetStage 2 targetStage 3 target
Damage Dealer37,000100,000170,000
Tower Tapper2256001,000
Siege Weapon60120180

Note: These values apply to the Hog Rider specifically and do not form a universal chart for other cards. Recheck live card parameters in-game before tracking.

For an active Damage Dealer (Stage 1) objective requiring 37,000 total damage, an illustrative account counter currently sits at 12,500 / 37,000 damage dealt, leaving 24,500 damage remaining.

This metric measures damage inflicted during matches, so remaining progress depends entirely on match performance rather than a fixed number of games.

If you are already choosing the Hog Rider as the win condition for your regular lineup, review the 2.6 Hog Cycle guide for placement and timing strategies.

How Can You Complete Tasks Efficiently?

Use cards you already play well. Pick an open Card Mastery task, play a supported mode, and focus on its required action. Check the progress counter after a few matches. If it does not move, recheck the task condition or card-level requirement. For a balanced deck, see building a balanced Clash Royale deck.

Claim the Reward and Confirm the Next Task

When the task reaches its target:

  1. Open the Card Mastery task.
  2. Confirm that it shows as completed.
  3. Use the visible reward option if one appears.
  4. Check your Gold balance or reward confirmation.
  5. Check the next available objective.

If progress has not updated, recheck the task condition, card level, and mode you used. Do not reinstall the game, delete progress, or buy a card upgrade just because a counter looks unclear.

Why Does the Guide Mention Collection Levels?

Card Mastery and Collection Levels are separate systems. Mastery tasks can give Gold, which can be used to upgrade cards. Those upgrades can then increase your Collection Level.

So, Mastery can help your Collection Level indirectly through card upgrades. Completing a Mastery task does not directly add to your Collection Level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Card Mastery Tasks Still Award XP?

No. Card Mastery tasks no longer award XP after the progression rework.

Where Can You View Your Mastery Badges?

Go to Collection. Your Mastery Badges appear alongside your Battle Banners.

Did Existing Mastery Progress Carry Over in the Rework?

Yes. Existing Mastery progress was kept. If your progress already met a reduced task target, that task became complete under the new requirement.

Open a card’s Card Mastery screen, check the task target, and play a supported mode to complete it. Once finished, confirm the Gold reward and move to the next objective. Check out more Clash Royale guides for more tips.
