Series Drop History & Prediction: When Will Your Card Become Free

Marvel Snap has a unique system of categorizing cards into Series or Pools. When new cards enter the roster, they are initially in the Series 4 or 5 category, which means that they are rare and can be quite hard to get. As more updates come out, many of these cards end up dropping to a lower Series,  like from Series 5 to 4, or Series 4 to 3, making them much easier to get a hold of using Collector’s Tokens and catches.

Understanding when Series Drops happen helps you decide whether to buy a card now or wait.

How Series Drops Worked at First

When Series Drops were first announced and implemented, the developers suggested they would happen frequently as new cards arrived. The idea was that the older cards would drop down the ranks from Series 5 to Series 4 and below, as newer Series Drops came out. The older cards would then be easier to obtain in the Collector’s Reserves, and their prices would get cheaper in the Token Shop.

Series Drop in March 2023

In early 2023, cards like Knull, Sentry, and Silver Surfer dropped to Series 4 after their initial time in Series 5. Multiple cards from Series 4 went down to Series 3, too. The March Series Drop the next month also involved cards like Shadow King, Sauron, Zabu and Dazzler falling from Series 5 into Series 4. These cards were noticeable because they had been released in the Savage Land season the previous year.

The March Series Drop also saw Attuma, Orka, and M’Baku cards drop from Series 4 to Series 3. Until then, Marvel Snap Series Drops had maintained a fairly regular schedule.

Series Drops from June 2024 Onwards

Over time, the pattern changed and players started noticing that the Series Drops had become less predictable. The June 2024 Series Drop left a significant impact, but the ones after felt muted. There was no fixed timetable for the Drops after that.

In December 2024, cards like X-23, Iron Lad, and Phastos dropped to Series 4.

Series Drop in March 2025

The last huge Series Drop was in March 2025, when a significant number of cards were dropped from Series 5 to 4, and from Series 4 to Series 3. The latter could be obtained from Collector’s Caches and Reserves, or could be earned through a free Seasonal Series 3 Card. You could even get a random Series 3 Card for 1000 Collector’s Tokens.

In this Series Drop, 12 cards went from Series 5 to Series 4, including:

  • Loki
  • Skaar
  • Cull Obsidian
  • Cannonball
  • Black Knight

From Series 4, 13 cards dropped in rank, including:

  • Nimrod
  • Selene
  • Silk
  • Spider-Ham
  • Havok

Future Predictions

As of right now, there are no official announcements for any upcoming Series Drops. Many players have speculated that the introduction of card acquisition features like Spotlight Caches has now reduced the anticipation that came with having to wait for Series Drops to get cards. This means that new cards might stay at Series 5 for longer than they once used to.

Conclusion

Series Drops in Marvel Snap made it extremely easy for consistent players to earn rare cards without having to pay. These Drops used to stick to a schedule early on, but over the passage of time, things have changed in the Marvel Snap universe. Spotlight Caches are a good way to obtain cards now.
