Supporter Cards You’ll Find In Most Battles

If you’re planning on diving into the world that is online Pokémon TCGP you’ll need to be prepared for which Supporter Cards are going to be in each deck you’ll face, or which ones you’ll need to bring into battle! There are a lot of different Supporter cards that have different effects but there are some cards that feature in most decks you’ll play against. Here’re the most common cards you’ll come up against and their respective effects!

Professor’s Research:

Starting with the most straightforward Supporter Card, this card simply draws 2 cards from your deck and puts them into your hand. That’s it! While it’s simple it is a good way to fill up your hand with more cards, especially if it means drawing the card you need to gain the upper hand or even win the game! And while there are other cards or strategies you can use to draw cards from your hand, this is the most reliable.

Sabrina:

There are 2 main Supporter cards that can change which Pokémon is in the Active Spot; Sabrina and Cyrus. We’ll go into detail about Sabrina first; this card simply changes the Pokémon in the Active spot when played, but your opponent can choose which Pokémon goes into the Active Spot next. This can be used to try and draw a weakened Pokémon into the field so you can take it out, or it can be used to save yourself from a Pokémon that can attack the following turn, especially if it’s a powerful one! However if your opponent is prepared they can counter this by placing the Pokémon you just removed back into the Active Spot so do keep that in mind. However this is a good counter play to use if you’re in trouble and need some breathing room.

Cyrus:

The other Supporter card that can change the Pokémon in the Active spot is Cyrus, but his effects are arguably more deadly than Sabrina’s! This card switches in a Pokémon with damage on it to the Active spot, but this time your opponent doesn’t choose which Pokémon goes into the Active spot; you do. The effects this card can have on a game are brutal. If a Pokémon is nearly out of health and is on the bench, playing this card can put it back into danger and give you a chance to defeat it. Depending on whether the Pokémon card is an EX variety or not this card can even be a game ender if you can utilize Cyrus properly! While this card is an incredible bonus and can end a game if you’re not careful, if you manage your Pokémon’s health properly this card will be nullified so keep that in mind when dealing with Cyrus!

Guzma:

We mentioned this card in our Pokémon Tools article as a crucial counter to any Pokémon Tool card you place down. This is because Guzma’s effect is to remove all Pokémon Tools attached to your Pokémon. That’s right; it removes every Tool attached to every Pokémon on your field of play. If you have a deck that relies on attaching Pokémon Tools to your Pokémon this can be a game changer. However there are a couple of counters to this card. The first is to carry 2 of each Pokémon Tool you want to attach just in case one gets removed by Guzma, and the other method is to simply save your Tool cards until Guzma has been used and then play them. But if you’re struggling with a deck that gives Pokémon extra health or you really need that additional damage removed, Guzma can come in handy when you need him!

There are plenty of other Supporter cards that are used in decks but a few of these cards are used for Pokémon Type specific decks, for example Irida heals 40 damage from all Pokémon that has Water Energy attached to them so you’ll typically find this card in Water decks. But the cards listed above are the most commonly found Supporter Cards since their effects are universal, so next time you go into an online battle, it’s best to be prepared to run into these cards!
