Using Tornado in your strategy can drastically alter the gaming dynamics of Clash Royale. This versatile spell offers unique tactical advantages. In this article, we’ll go over the key strategies to help you get the most out of Tornado.
King Activation
This is probably the most popular application for the Tornado. It is quite helpful against cards like the miner, goblin barrel, and hog rider. The King can stop most, if not all, of the damage from these cards once it is activated against them. When your opponent deploys a balloon against you, you can activate your king tower by combining an Ice Spirit with a tornado for a positive elixir swap that won’t harm your tower.
Hero Wizard
Since the release of Hero cards, the Hero Wizard has become Tornado’s best partner. Unlike the regular Wizard, the Hero Wizard has an active ability called Arcane Pull for 2 elixir. He creates a powerful vortex that drags enemy troops toward his landing position. When combined with a well-timed Tornado, you can create a “double pull” that clusters even the largest pushes into a single tile. Your Crown Towers will wipe them out in seconds. The Hero Wizard’s ability recharges after 25 seconds, allowing you to set up these deadly combos multiple times per match. Just be careful, a well-placed Lightning or Rocket can delete your Hero Wizard before his ability fires.
Splashnado on Defense
When combined with a tornado and a splash unit or a splash-damaging building, this tactic can effectively destroy large pushes. Unless you are utilizing the Executioner, the troop’s position won’t usually matter. Make sure the Executioner is placed directly in front of your Princess Tower if you plan to employ Exenado. Otherwise, even with the aid of a tornado, the Exe’s axe throw won’t hit anything. However, you must be wary of your opponent’s powerful spells, which can quickly destroy your splash unit.
Splashnado on Offense
Using Tornado to gather defending soldiers atop the tower so that your splash damage troop or spell strikes both the tower and all of the defending troops simultaneously is another successful tactic. A large spell works well with tornadoes as well. Using the Tornado, you can bring enemy soldiers to the top of their tower, rocket them, and chip the tower. But make sure you cast the rocket just before you cast the tornado.
Countering the Three Musketeers
You can get a good elixir trade if your opponent positions their 3M behind their King Tower, allowing you to fireball or poison them all at once by tornadoing them back into one lane. If they center-plant the Three Musketeers, however, this becomes much more difficult. You will need to react quickly or anticipate their placement to successfully Tornado them back into the same lane. You can be wasting three elixirs if you have a slow reaction time.
The Evolved Executioner
While the classic Executioner remains strong, his Evolved form has taken the “Splashnado” strategy to a new level. The key difference is that the Evolved Executioner throws his axe in a wide arc that returns like a boomerang, hitting enemies on both the throw and the return. When combined with Tornado, this creates a devastating two-hit combo: pull all enemy troops into a single tile, and the Evolved Executioner will slice through them twice, wiping out even the largest pushes. This is one of the most reliable defensive setups in the game.
