Eevee Cards And Their Specialties

Eevee is one of those Pokémon where we can all agree is super adorable no matter which iteration it is! In Pokémon TCGP Eevee and all its evolutions are featured in the game, they even have their own card pack called Eevee Grove! We’ll go through some of them in this article and whether each Eeveelution’s EX form is better than their regular card forms!

When talking about Eevee cards we can’t leave out the main critters themselves! Eevee cards feature in many different card packs with beautiful artwork of our favorite fluffy Pokémon although they primarily share the same move; Tackle which simply does 20 damage. There are a couple of exceptions however; one card has a move called Continuous Steps where you flip coins until you get a tails. For every heads you deal 20 damage, so for early damage this is a good choice. However, in our opinion there is a better option. There is an Eevee card in the Mega Rising series where it’s Ability shines; as long as it’s in the Active spot you can evolve this Eevee card during your first turn or whenever you play it. If you have an Eeveelution you can immediately play this can be a huge start to your game. It’s EX form has a very similar ability where you can evolve this card with any version of an Eeveelution although you can’t play it on the first turn. It’s attack capabilities are better however with Bite dealing 30 damage. The Eevee you start with depends on how you play but, in our opinion, the Mega Rising Eevee is the best option.

Best Option: Eevee (Mega Rising)

Leafeon:

Our first Eeveelution we’ll talk about is Leafeon, the Grass Type Evolution of Eevee. There aren’t as many options with regular Leafeon cards although your best option is likely Space Time Smackdown’s where for 2 Energy you can deal 90 damage although the downside is that you can’t attack with that Pokémon next turn. It’s EX form however has none of the downsides of its regular counterpart. It takes 3 Energy to attack and you deal less damage (70 damage precisely) but its Ability is where it shines through; as long as Leafeon EX is in the Active spot you can take a Grass Energy from the Energy Zone and attach it to one of your Grass Pokémon on the Field. This is a great Pokémon to setup attacks by other Grass Type Pokémon like Celebi and it’s damage output is still pretty respectable, so we think Leafeon EX is the option to go if you’re trying to form a Grass Deck with high Energy output!

Best Option: Leafeon EX (Triumphant Light)

Flareon:

Flareon is the Fire Type Evolution of Eevee and there are a couple of different variants for this Pokémon. There are 2 regular Flareon’s to talk about. Genetic Apex’s Flareon deals 110 damage for 3 Energy, the downside being that if you use this attack, you lose a Fire Energy. Meanwhile Eevee Grove’s regular Flareon card deals 40 damage for 2 Energy but you can take a Fire Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to any Pokémon on your Bench. This is an interesting dilemma as you’ll have to choose between Energy gain and damage output. Flareon EX has a lot of damage output at 130 damage for 3 Energy, however you do lose 2 Fire Energy every time you use this attack and while its ability attaches a Fire Energy from the Discard pile to it, it does 20 damage to itself every time this happens so the risk might not be worth it, even if you have Flame Patch Item cards on hand. In our opinion the least risky option is Eevee Grove’s regular Flareon, as while you don’t do as much damage as the others it’s a good setup Pokémon and can help boost other Pokémon that can be more powerful than Flareon EX.

Best Option: Flareon (Eevee Grove)

These are only a couple of options for Eevee that are featured in the game. There are plenty more Eeveelutions to talk about in future articles but hopefully this helps you when deciding which Eevee Pokémon to include in your future decks!
