What is the Best Strategy for the Double Elixir Phase in Clash Royale?

The key to success in the Double Elixir phase of Clash Royale is to keep the pressure on your opponent at all times, making smart trades with Elixir to boot. You don’t have to sit back and wait for the perfect moment to strike: focus on keeping your Elixir bar ticking over.

Leaving it sitting at 10 is one of the most foolish errors you can make. Every second you waste letting that Elixir just trickle away is a second your opponent can use to pull together a killer attack.

Build Big, Overwhelming Attacks

Cards like Golem, Lava Hound and Giant become just about unstoppable with this boost, because you can play them safely at the back and still have enough Elixir to put together a decent supporting cast.

When you’ve got a well-supported tank in place, you can quickly overwhelm your opponent. Rather than trying to win the whole thing with a single play, try to build up a layered attack with all sorts of troops, spells and defensive tricks that keep coming back at the opponent.

Take Advantage of Splash Damage

Since both players have more Elixir available, the battlefield becomes crowded with troops. This makes splash-damage units incredibly valuable during the Double Elixir phase.

Cards such as Executioner, Wizard, Baby Dragon, and Dark Prince can eliminate swarms and support troops with ease. When paired with spells like Tornado or Poison, they can wipe out entire enemy pushes while generating huge positive Elixir trades.

Stay Aggressive but Keep a Reserve

Aggression is important, but spending every drop of Elixir on a single push can be risky. Skilled opponents will often punish an overcommitted attack by launching a counterpush in the opposite lane.

To avoid this, try to keep 2-3 Elixirs available whenever possible. This small reserve can help you respond to surprise attacks, defend your tower, or support your existing push if needed. Balancing offence and defence is a key part of mastering the Double Elixir phase.

Cycle Win Conditions Quickly

Fast cycle decks become especially powerful when Elixir generation speeds up. If you’re using cards like Hog Rider, Miner, or Wall Breakers, Double Elixir gives you the chance to cycle back to your win condition much faster than usual.

Repeated pressure can force opponents into defensive mistakes and prevent them from building their own large pushes. Constant attacks keep them reacting instead of planning, which often leads to valuable tower damage.

Maximize Spell Value

Spells can completely turn the tables in your favour at Double Elixir, especially when enemy troops are packed in tight near the bridge or clustered behind tanks.

Fireball, Poison, Rocket and Lightning spells can tear through enemy lines and clear out supporting units at the same time. And if you can manage to hit an enemy Crown Tower with your spell to boot, that’s a game-changer. It completely flips the momentum in your favour.

Even top players often rely on spell-cycling as a way to take out weakened towers when you’re not in a position to do a full-on attack.

Don’t Give Your Opponent an Easy Way to Score on Spells

You’ve got to use your spells well. But don’t forget that taking away opportunities from your opponent is just as important. Don’t put all your defensive units in the same spot. Especially not when you’re up against decks with Fireball, Poison, Lightning or Rocket.

Players who stay in the game, keep a smart hand, and squeeze every last advantage out of their Elixir are the ones who come out on top when the game goes to Double Elixir. Master those skills, and the chaos of that round becomes your greatest asset.
