At time of writing, Pokémon TCG Pocket has a new card set released; Team Rocket’s Ambition. This is a smaller set than the previous one with only 72 unique cards. However, which ones should you use in Battle and how do they work? In this article, we’ll look at some cards that immediately caught our eye and how you can use them!
Serperior:
This is a Grass Type Pokémon and the first of 3 regular Pokémon we’ll look at in this article. It also has an ability that has the potential to get crazy! Attack wise, it deals 60+ damage for 3 Energy and you flip a coin. If it lands on heads, it deals an extra 60 damage! It also uses Colourless Energy meaning you can place this Pokémon in whatever type deck you’d like! However, its ability takes advantage of Grass Energy so we recommend using a Grass deck. For each Grass Energy attached to Serperior it gains an extra 30 HP. This is essentially an extra Elegant Cape Tool attached to your Pokémon every turn! However, you can also combine this with the other Serperior which makes Grass Energy count for 2. This means that if you play your cards right, you can double your own health!
Delphox:
This is a Fire Type Pokémon and the second our of three Stage 2 Pokémon featured in this article. Similarly to Serperior, it deals 60+ damage for 3 Energy. It also requires Colourless Energy which means it can have any Energy Type attached to attack! However, the difference with Serperior is what this attack does! Its attack damage goes up depending on how much Energy your opponent’s Active Pokémon has! For each Energy they have this attack goes up by 30! This attack can work well against EX Pokémon that use a lot of Energy to attack. Delphox can be a great deterrent for Pokémon with high Energy requirements! You can also combine this with Indeedee EX which has the same attack and can also heal! Finding the right Pokémon to combo this with can make a dangerous combination! If you’re worried about health you can also attach a Giant Cape to get 20 extra HP!
Team Rocket’s Zapdos EX:
This is an Electric Type Pokémon and the only EX Pokémon we’re featuring in this article. The 3 Legendary Bird Pokémon are all in this set but we’ll focus on Zapdos today! It’s also the only Pokémon in this article that has 2 attacks! Its first attack does 40 damage for 2 Energy which can be a good starting attack option. However, its second attack is even stronger! It deals 90 damage for 3 Energy which is strong enough as it is. But it also deals 50 damage to an opponent’s Benched Pokémon with damage to it. This can be helpful if your opponent doesn’t have many healing options. The only downside is its health, with only 120 HP which is low for an EX Pokémon. If you’re using this Pokémon make sure you have lots of healing options so it won’t do down!
Garchomp:
This is a Dragon Type Pokémon and since it’s a Dragon Type there are multiple Energy Types required to attack. Firstly its health is good for a Stage 2 Pokémon at 150 HP. It deals a staggering 120 damage for 3 Energy. You do need a Water and Fighting Type Energy in order to use this attack however. This Pokémon has a very interesting ability at its disposal too! If you knock out a Pokémon with this attack, Garchomp is immune for all attacks and status effect for the next turn! This can be a lethal combination if you play your cards right. We’d recommend using Pokémon like Mantyke to get Water Energy quickly. You can also use Dragonair to attach discarded Energy to Garchomp if needed. Finally, an easy way of getting Energy you need is playing the Rainbow Cave Stadium card!
Even though there aren’t that many Pokémon cards in this set some are very powerful! These Pokémon can be game changers if you use them correctly. So as always, experiment with these cards and see how you can fit them into your decks!
