Triumphant Light: Cards We Recommend For Decks

In our latest articles we’ve discussed Triumphant Light, the 4th set introduced to Pokémon TCG Pocket. However, we only discussed the main attraction of this set; Arceus, Arceus EX and Link Cards. There were plenty of powerful options with those cards but there are plenty of other options in thid set too! So in this article we’ll discuss some non Arceus and Link Cards and how you can use them in Battles!

Leafeon EX:

This is a Grass Type Pokémon and is the first of 2 EX Pokémon we’ll be discussing in this article. We’ve discussed Eeveelutions in a previous article so read that for more info. But to recap this particular Eeveelution, its Ability is one to watch out for. It deals 70 damage for 3 Energy which is a good offensive option. Its Ability lets you take a Grass Energy and attach it to one of your Benched Pokémon once per turn! However, Leafeon EX must be in the Active Spot for this Ability to take effect. This can be useful for Energy Generation for Pokémon with high Energy attack requirements. Or it can be used to increase a Pokémon’s attack depending on Energy like Celebi EX. If you combine this with similar Pokémon like Serperior this can be an Energy Generation machine! If you’re worried about its health, you can also use an Elegant Cape for 30 HP!

Whiscash:

This is a Water Type Pokémon and is the only non-EX Pokémon featured in this article. At first glance it might not look like using this Pokémon is worth it. It deals 80+ damage for 4 Energy which is a good amount of damage. But its energy cost to attack and retreat (3 Energy) aren’t ideal numbers to have. However, the + in its attack stat is very important. When you use this attack you also flip a coin. If you flip heads you deal an extra 60 damage to your opponent! But if you land on tails you also do 20 damage to yourself. This can be a risky option if luck isn’t going your way. But there are ways around all these options. For the coin flip, you can use Will to guarantee a heads flip if you don’t feel lucky. You can also use Misty to quickly gather Water Energy if need be!

Garchomp EX:

This is a Fighting Type Pokémon and is the second EX Pokémon featured in this article. It’s also the only Pokémon in this article that can use 2 attacks! The first attack deals 50 damage for 1 Energy. This attack can deal damage to anyone on your opponent’s Field! The second attack deals 100 damage for 3 Energy. This attack can only be done to your opponent’s Active Pokémon. The different attacks can make this Pokémon versatile in many situations! If you want to damage a weak opponent you can use the first attack. If you want to deal large damage to an Active EX Pokémon use the second attack. And at 170 HP and a retreat cost of 1 Energy, this is a safe option to use for Fighting decks! And with newer cards introduced like Korrina these attacks can deal lots more damage!

Irida:

Our final card isn’t a Pokémon at all. Rather, it’s a Supporter Card and a very helpful one to Water Type decks at that! When using this card, it heals 40 HP on all Pokémon on your Field with Water Energy attached. If you have any Pokémon that are weak or about to be defeated, this card is a great safety net. While it’s primarily useful for Water Type decks it’s not the only deck you can use this in. If also combine this with other healing cards like Indeedee EX and Soothing Shore! Do be careful with this card since you can only use one Supporter card per turn. But if you want an extra health option, keeping this in your deck is a great option!

Triumphant Light has lots of cards that are useful in modern Battles. Lots of cards have different advantages you can use from extra attack to healing. Despite lots of articles on this card set we haven’t even reached the end yet! There’ll be one more article on this card set to look forward to. But for now, experiment with these cards and see how they can fit in your own decks!
